Turns out John's "John Deer" shirt is a lucky shirt. Opening morning found John, Kim, Stetson & Austin covering the 100 of miles of roads located in the Coral Pink Sand Dunes. They were looking to find a buck for Kim, and find one they did. A two point jumped up along side the road and took off running. They parked the truck and took off in hot pursuit. Six hundred yards into their journey they stumbled across this bruiser. John didn't wait around for Kim to shoot this one, but as luck would have it Kim got a nice buck a few days later. As a side note, Stetson and Austin both killed bucks on the muzzle loader hunt. Not to bad for a couple of green horns!

That Thing They call Rodeo
The Nielson family was successful at last night annual Peach Days Rodeo.
The success started with Dakota catching a chicken- funny thing is that John donated a rooster he wanted to get rid of because it was so mean and that is the one Dakota caught! Good thing she choose to trade it in for a dollar.
John & Wyatt did the Hyde race- I think this is the funniest event to watch- here they go...
Josh & Austin both signed up to ride a steer.
There was about 10 boys ages 8-13. Most rides were under 3-4 seconds. Last year Austin stayed on the longest and won a belt buckle plus $27.00 but this year his bull turned just right and bucked him off.
But he redeemed himself by catching a greased pig.
Josh had a very successful ride- he stayed on the full 8 seconds.
Then he was surprised when he collected his prize money- he was expecting under $30 but since he was the only one to stay on 8 seconds he got the whole pot- $77 plus a nice belt buckle!! Way to go Josh!
